Exclusive Love held off the big late run of Revelstoke to win the Churchill Feature at Churchill Downs
The 4-year-old filly, Exclusive Love coming off a second place finish in an allowance claimer at Saratoga on 20 August, 2011, over at a mile to winner La Reine Lionne, comes back to win at Churchill Downs on Matt Win Turf Course. In a big late run the filly left behind Revelstoke to win the $49,739 feature for fillies and mare on 9 November, 2011.
Robert Masterson’s Exclusive Love ran a big race to top the distance of 1 1/8 miles for the first time in her career. She hasn’t gone farther than the distance of 1 1/16 miles and that too she ran in the Grade 2 Lake George Stakes back on 28 July, 2010 where she finished second to Perfect Shirl.
She also ran over at 1 1/16 miles in her second last start in an allowance claimer at Saratoga on 30 July, 2011, to winner Hit It Rich, who covered the 1 1/16 mile distance in 1 minute and 42.83 seconds.
At Churchill Downs, Exclusive Love who is trained by Marke Casse and ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, covered the 1 1/8 mile distance in 1 minute and 50.07 seconds, over the turf course which was rated as “good”.
The daughter of Bernstein, out of Magic of Love by Magic Ring, Exclusive Love conjured up one of her traditional runs where she came off the pace, but not drifting way back just enough to keep tabs on the leader Lily Again.
The leader Lily Again went through the opening quarter mile in 24.59 seconds, as she covered the half mile distance in 48.99 seconds and went on to complete the six furlong distance in 1 minute and 12.51 seconds.
The Kentucky bred 4-year-old filly, Exclusive Love came to her own on the top of the stretch where she edged out to take the lead. By that time it appeared as if Exclusive Love will take the race easily, but just when it looked all too comfortable Revelstoke under Brian Hernandez Jr. began to rally down the rail.
The 28 to 1 longshot got too close to Exclusive Love in the dying moments of the race, but Exclusive Love quickly turned away to defeat her late rival by half a length.
