Executiveprivilege ready to bolt towards victory in the Sorrento Stakes at Del Mar
After two perfect starts, Executiveprivilege is now headed for her first graded race in the Grade 3, $150,000 Sorrento Stakes, which will be hosted at Del Mar on 8th August, 2012.
At 6 ½ furlongs, the juvenile filly, who is trained by Bob Baffert should just feel at home, despite stretching out half-furlong more.
Owned by Michael E. Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman, the Kentucky bred runner will be mounted by Rafael Bejarano, and race as a high-weight of 123 pounds and will break from post 7.
So far, things have gone her way, and she will be aiming to stretch her record and complete her hat-trick.
The daughter of First Samurai, out of mare Refugee, broke her maiden at Betfair Hollywood Park on 28th June, 2012, where she briskly covered the 5 ½ furlong distance in 1 minute and 04.71 seconds, and finished ahead of Renee’s
Queen.
The victory was easy for the young runner in the six furlong Landaluce Stakes at the Betfair Hollywood Park, where she claimed the victory over the Peter Miller trained, Speedinthruthecity and completed the race in an impressive 1 minute and 11.49
seconds.
Trainer Bob Baffert took the filly through two 5-furlong work-outs at Del Mar. On 28th July, 2012, she completed the course efficiently in 58.80 seconds, but took longer on 3rd August, 2012, when she
clocked in 1 minute and 01.80 seconds.
While, Executiveprivilege is looking to maintain her record, Speedinthruthecity is back for revenge. It will be interesting to see the two runners battle it out again.
The daughter of City Zip will race with 119 pounds and will be ridden by jockey, Joseph Talamo.
Provided, Executiveprivilege succeeds in this race, chances are she will hold an entry in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante, which will be held on 1st September, 2012.
If the two-year-old manages to score in this race, it will give Bob Baffert his sixth victory in the Sorrento Stakes.
The Hall of Fame trainer previously saddled Soviet Sojourn in 1991, Batroyale in 1995, Silverbulletday in 1998, Chilukki in 1999, and Inspiring in 2004.
