Are here any exercises I can do to help with cross country? We start Tuesday and we only have to run 1 mile, but I get out of breath just from running two laps around a gym. So any tips for not getting out of breath fast? It's raining so I can't go outside and run, that's why i'm asking for exercises. And i"m the kind of person who has to be the best at everything so please help!!!! and don"t critisize about me having to be the best! i just want help and criticism isnt help!

  1. stretch everyday and start running start from short to long like 1 mile for like 3 days then go 2 miles for like 5 days elevate urself higher

  2. try going to the gym or to your YMCA.  if you can't just run in the rain.  running in the rain will help you become a better athlete.  i would suggest drinking a lot of water to help with the out of breath thing.  also when you feel like you are out of breath just try and fight through the pain.  you will become a better runner if you do this.

P.S.  if you start to get cramps then slow down or walk a little.  you dont want to hurt yourself.

  3. Some exercises is to run at a comfortable speed on a treadmill. and then try to up your speed every time a little more. and you should try to keep your legs limber by stretching them out and keeping yourself well rested helps out a lot. you can try to do some exercises that requires longevity. So you could practice at not loosing your breath so quickly. and when you run you should take big steps (not crazy big) but that helps you to cover more distance. so i hope i helped and have fun in cross country!! :]
