I just found out yesterday I was pregnant, only 4 weeks along. I am semi-active, and like to walk alot and want to know different types of exercise people did while pregnant to maintain a healthy weight...I'm not trying to lose weight, or diet -I just want to be healthy for me and the baby. Any suggestions of exercising? Walking, yoga, etc??

  1. Yoga, And walking.

  2. You should try yoga it will relax you and put you in a relaxed state of mind. also try light walking

  3. You can do anything you used to do before, except martial arts, horseback riding, gymnastics, pro cycling, and contact sports.

It's safe to use any cardio machine, but exercise bikes might make you uncomfortable, and treadmills might make you feel wobbly as your center of balance shifts.

If you get uncomfortable while working out, switch to a slower pace. Just make sure you are well hydrated, and be careful not to overheat- don't go running mid-day in the sun.

If you weren't extremely active, you can try swimming, aqua aerobics, yoga, or pilates, since they are all low-impact.

Walking is also great, and it's very affordable.

  4. General rule of thumb is that you can continue the activities that you were doing prior to pregnancy (assuming that your activities of choice aren't skydiving and mountain climbing!)

Of course talk to your dr, but walking is a great idea during pregnancy.  The more in shape you are, the easier your labor and delivery will be.  Just make sure that you drink lots of water and be mindful of your heart rate.  Good luck!

  5. I did aquafit and swimming, which was fantastic! I also did pre-natal yoga and I walked a lot.
