Exeter Chiefs scrum half Haydn Thomas all set to play his 100th game – Rugby news
28-year-old Exeter Chiefs scrum half, Haydn Thomas, will be playing his 100th game for the English Rugby Union Club as he laces up for his team’s last round match of the Aviva Premiership. Exeter Chiefs will take on the London Wasps on Saturday,
May 7, at Sandy Park. The match is already a sold out as both teams will fight for the mid-table position.
The landmark achievement was due to come earlier if he had not missed out of the action due to injuries.
Chiefs currently are trailing by four points behind the London Wasps who are currently placed in eighth position with 43 points. Chiefs have a better goal difference as compared to the Wasps.
Both teams so far have played 22 games during the Aviva Premiership 2010/11 season.
Haydn Thomas will become the 24th players to represent the Exeter in 100 games. Thomas started his professional rugby career in 2003 with the Exeter Chiefs when he made his debut against the Bedford Blues. Chiefs scrum half has already signed
a new three-year deal with the club and has become an integral part of the Exeter Chiefs squad this season. In 2005, Thomas left the Chiefs and joined Gloucester Rugby. He stayed at the Gloucester until 2007.
In 2007, Thomas signed a two-year deal with the Bristol Rugby. At the end of the 2009/10 season Thomas re-signed with the Exeter Chiefs.
Thomas has expressed satisfaction on his personal achievement. He said, "The hundred club is a fantastic club to be a member of. You look at the names on the honours board and there's not that many of them. It's nice to be part of it and my name will always
be there”.
However, Thomas has reemphasized that playing for the team is his main priority and he will concentrate more on the game results to make the game memorable for him.  He said, “I’m really proud of what I've achieved. We've still got to concentrate on this
game, it's no different to any other - we want to go out and win and I want to do my best for the team."
The re-signing will allow Thomas to represent the Exeter Chiefs for almost seven years.
