Exeter Chiefs to face point deduction – Aviva Premiership update
The investigation of the registration of Nemani Nadolo, the Exeter’s winger, has been affirmed by the Rugby Football Union. RFU confirmed this after the Exeter confessed to have an ‘Managerial Error’.
Nemani Nadolo joined Exeter in January and now the club took out the young Fijian from its side prior to the Bath’s defeat in Aviva Premiership. The 23 year old wasn’t included in the course of the assumption that Exeter could face point’s subtraction for
disorienting the right measures in fielding a new player.
Rugby football Union gave out a statement which might have not been completely a welcome note for Exeter. RFU spokesman said, “The RFU can confirm that it has been looking into the registration of Nemani Nadolo. Exeter Chiefs have fully co-operated with
us throughout and we will keep them fully informed while the matter is concluded.”
The only thing that has kept Exeter a bit relieved is their current position on the table. Even if the points were deducted, the Exeter is 16 points ahead of Newcastle Falcons, the bottom line team. Currently standing at ninth position with 37 points, Exeter
Chiefs is six points ahead the tenth position, Sale Sharks.
In 2009, we witnessed a similar situation, when David Ward the hooker was brought to benches instead of getting him re-registered. Sale Sharks made this mistake and were denied one point on the table, when they didn’t re-register Ward and were fined heavily
too. After Joe Burton was deployed against Exeter chiefs, London Wasps have also been denied a point in the LV=Cup tournament this year. The flanker, Joe Burton was ineligible to play for Wasps.
Exeter Chiefs spokesman said, “There has been an administrative error and we are waiting to hear from the RFU. We have not been charged with anything as yet. We withdrew Nemani from yesterday's game against Bath due to the error, but there has been no deduction
or anything like that and there has been no official charge.”
Aviva Premiership has matured with time and blunders like these should have been lessened, but the administrative errors are always expected too. With Tigers leading the tournament with a close competition with Saracen, who are just three points behind,
this season has been a successful one so far.
