Exeter Chiefs’ winger Nemani Nadolo parts way with the club – Rugby update
Sandy Park based Exeter Chiefs’ suffered a major blow as their international winger, Nemani Nadolo, has opted to leave the club.
In a statement released by the Exeter Chiefs today, May 18, it was confirmed that the team had released Nemani Nadolo from his contract. Reports are that the 23-year-old Nadolo made a formal request to the Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter to release him from
his playing contract.
Baxter remarked, “Nemani and the club have been in discussions for a few days about releasing him from his current contract with us. He has told the club he is keen to return to Australia with immediate effect for personal and family reasons and we have
granted that request.”
Nadolo has termed personal and family reasons to part way with the club. Yesterday, Nadolo received a 18-months ban from the game and ordered to pay additional fine of 950-pound sterling after he admitted the charge of driving while drunk.
Fijian born Nadolo joined Chiefs after leaving French Top 14 side Bourgoin in January.  He has played four games in the season for Chiefs that includes starting the game on two occasions against Northampton Saints and Leeds Carnegie in March and April respectively.
Nadolo also has played three games for Chiefs’ second-string team in the A league and Nadolo scored three tries in that stint.
Former Chiefs’ winger Nadolo played his first game for the club against Bath Rugby on February 26 as he came on as substitute during the final few minutes of the game.
Chiefs’ coach Baxter has confirmed that he agreed to the terms with the player. Baxter also has announced that Nadolo has expressed his utter disappointment on the whole drunk driving accident, which made a bad impression on the fans.
Commenting about the incident Baxter said, “Clearly he made an error of judgment that night, which he now regrets. He is an honest young man who is disappointed and upset at what he has done. We wish Nemani our best wishes for the future and thank him for
his contribution during his time with the Chiefs.”
Baxter further added, “As a club we are aware of Nemani's recent court appearance and take a very dim view of his actions. He is aware he has not only let himself and his family down, but also the club.”
Nadolo made his international debut for Fiji in 2010 against Australia and later played a few games in the 2010 IRB Pacific Nations Cup. He has so far played three international games for Fiji.
