  1. when you get an epoxy well i find it hard to dig the rails in since it floats so much sometimes i have hard time duck diving because its so buoyant but it does take a beating but if you get a crack in it its pretty much un surfable till you get it fix speaking of regular resin boards my friend dropped in on my wave he fell and his LONGBOARD shot up and hit my board it put a big gash and a chunk off of my rails but i just got some ding all for 10 bucks and hopefully fixed it

  2. epoxy is the new think now days, my dad is a well know shaper where i live and he says you can get more speed off an epoxy board and its more flexible in the water when you throw a turn, go epoxy but it will cost more

  3. I would go for Fiberglass, the epoxy's take in water like no other and they are more of a pain to repair(when needed). I have one Epoxy and have never had to repair it but I am dreading when I will have to.

  4. Epoxy: lighter and stronger than fiberglass boards. Much more durable and can take some good thrashings. Doesn't handle the same as a traditional fiberglass surfboard. Ones with eps foam come in various densities but still bounce around a lot in choppy waves.

You may want to rent one from your local shop.

Fiberglass: standard polyurethane foam blank and glassed with polyester resin. They have a very natural flex pattern. Feel very smooth and natural in the water, giving the best performance. Very popular but prone to dings and dents.

  5. I've heard epoxy is nice, but I've never owned or even ridden one.  It's not a "bad decision" to buy a fiberglass board.  They get pressure dings easily, and can get dings and cracks pretty easily too, but they are also easy to fix (a tube of solarez will do the trick for about 5-10 bucks).  Either one is fine though.

  6. EXOPY!!!!!!!

-alot better, lighter, stronger, more durable

-floats alot better, nosedives/duckdives are easier tho...hmm

-fiberglass tends to chip off from the water seeping between the layers

-its not a bad desicion to buy a fiberglass board...it just wont last as long, not as great a performance, and its harder to handle
