C6H12O6 ----> 2 C2H5OH + 2CO2

The enthalpy change for the reaction is -67 kj. Is the reaction exothermic or endothermic? Is energy, in the form of heat, absorbed or evolved as the reaction occurs.

  1. EXOTHERMIC - Heat has be produced.

    Process or reaction that releases energy usually in the form of heat, but it can also release energy in form of light , sound, or electricity.


  2. Negative sign means exothermic, heat is evolved.  

  3. if the change in enthalpy equals to negative then it is exothermic and if the change in enthalpy equals to positive, it is then an endothermic. so in your case it is exothermic.
