Expectations of Justin Verlander swell after a tremendous 2011 season – MLB Update
The Detroit Tigers ace, Justin Verlander is one of the few Major League players who have won all major awards in a single particular year. His season long tremendous and extraordinary performances were the main reason to why he won that many awards and now,
his loyal fans are expecting more from Verlander in the next season.
Starting from becoming an only player, who won the Cy Young award along with Most Valuable Player (MVP), American League’s top player and King Tiger award in a single year, Verlander has certainly emerged as one of the top prodigies in the league.
Providing his team with a 24-5 win-loss record, Verlander went on to produce 2.40 ERA which later at the end of the season was regarded as best pitching average and his 250 thrilling strikeouts and 0.92 WHIP toppled top hitters in the league. With this kind
of huge and superior performances, Verlander’s fans are getting anxious as to how he will manage to stay consistent in the upcoming year as well.
Recently, Justin Verlander won another honour from his city fans and many organisers, who mutually decided to give this year’s King Tiger award to him for his extraordinary performances. The Mayo Smith Society presented the King Tiger award to Verlander
and praised his contribution towards his club.
The Mayo Smith Society’s administrator, Todd Miller later told the media and explained about the great support for Verlander. Miller said, “Justin Verlander's excellence on the diamond and commitment to the community make him most worthy of the King Tiger
award, it is rare to find a professional athlete who uses his celebrity for helping others to the extent that Justin does. Regardless of how Justin's career progresses, we can be proud that he wears a Tigers uniform.”
Winning all these awards and getting so many appreciations from everyone, Verlander certainly is facing some extra amount of expectations that he has to deal with in the next season. Many believe that not only Verlander possesses qualities to deal with this
pressure, but he also has the level of courage in him to outdo everyone and come up with the same level of thrilling performances.
