Expense Claim expected to prevail in Casco Cocked Hat Stakes
Only five runners have been attracted towards the Casco Cocked Hat Stakes (Listed Race) (Colts & Geldings) at Goodwood in England on Friday, May 25, 2012. The winner of the class-1 event will be awarded a cash prize of £19,849.
The going will be good to firm in the 1 mile 3 furlong race, which is scheduled to start at 15:45 GMT. Following are the runners who will be seen in action: Michelangelo, Expense Claim, Perennial, Jungle Beat and Polydamos.
Out of the above mentioned runners, Jungle Beat might not be seen in action, but no final decision regarding his participation has been taken as yet. He is a very good runner and has managed to win once out of a couple of outings.
Looking at the performances of the available runners, it appears that Expense Claim will walk away with a comfortable victory, as his record is extremely good. Importantly, his recent form has also been terrific, which will encourage the punters to risk
the maximum number of bets on him.
The three-year-old gelding did not get off to an ideal start in his career, as he struggled in the first couple of outings. He finished fifth in his maiden run and could only manage a seventh spot in his second race.
However, he improved his performances from then onwards and is in perfect shape at the moment. Out of his past four outings, he managed to win thrice and finished third once. This goes onto show that he is in dominant form and will make things extremely
hard for his rivals at Goodwood.
In his most recent race, the Andrew Balding’s trainee won comfortably by a couple of lengths, despite not being rated as the favourite to win. He will be partnered by seasoned jockey, Jimmy Fortune, who has got a decent record at this level.
On the other hand, the bookies seem to have more confidence in the abilities of Michelangelo, who has just participated in one race until now. He did perform well in it, but failed to win it.
However, the three-year-old colt finished third in his only outing, which shows that he is fully capable of challenging Expense Claim in the race today.
