Experian!?????????????

Is it just me or has this nation gone crazy.

I have just watched an advert on TV stating that to improve your credit rating you should contact experian for your free credit report.

Now correct me if I a wrong, but the only people who have great problems getting credit are those with a poor credit history.

So Mr Brown (who has been trying to avoid his creditors for years) goes on line to Experian and fills in his details to get his latest credit report.

Now this is the same experian that all of the credit companies use to check on, and to trace bad debtors.

So yes, experian will give you a free credit report, Then as soon as you put the phone down, they are straight onto the credit companies to let them know they have captured you.

Or am I reading this wrong?

  1. who r experian is that an english thing....ie. company....lol

    thanks ;)

  2. No you are not reading it wrong at all!

  3. LOL.I never thought of it that way!! I better not phone them then eh?

  4. it is a topsy turvy world.

  5. No sorry but you are deluded. There are in fact 3 main credit referencing companies in the UK one of which is Experian. However there is absolutely NO PROOF that should you join them and them cancel your credit scoring will go down - that IS NOT how credit reference agencies work. I suggest you look further into this.

  6. Experian will already have any details of credit you have or have applied for, and any missed payments or CCJs. The credit check is for you to make sure there are no errors, for example if someone has claimed credit in your name without you knowing.

  7. Wrong,Experian DO NOT pass on your details to every credit company,,the creditors have to do the search which will cost them a small fee,the information about yourself is held on quite a few credit reference sites but Experian is the most poular with creditors, your details can be updated as mine were after finding a lot of stuff hadn`t been reviewed (addresses ),by updating your file every 6 months or so improves your rating, and in turn gives potential creditors a better idea of your ability to repay loans,

Your details will have been with them for some years now and usually the second a bank or card company have lodged your details with them,The onus is actually up to you to keep the files correct

  8. I couldn't care less about credit reports as I never apply for credit so it is of absolutely no interest to me, as for Gordon Muppet Brown with his history he shouldn't be allowed play money.

  9. You are correct, that is exactly what happens.

  10. You're cracked, they don't track people down for a living, that's your creditors concern.  Yikes!
