Experience with Belly Beats fetal heart monitor?

I am 15 weeks pregnant and continue to worry about the baby, so I decided to reassure myself I should order a fetal heart monitor. I ordered one last night (with the lotion) from Belly Beats and was curious how others that ordered it liked it? Could you find the heartbeat easily? Did you find it every time? How is the clarity?

  1. I have heard that those ones dont work until around 28 weeks or so.

I felt the same as you and I actually bought a doppler monitor like the ones your doctor uses.

I have heard my babies heartbeat with it since I was 12 weeks.  It's hard to find when the baby is small but I could always find it and it was very reassuring.

Now I am almost 26 weeks and find it really easy but haven't used it as much cause she is moving all over the place.

Feel free to email me if you want the info on where I got the monitor.  It was about $100 including a warranty and shipping.  Best investment I have made so far.  lol

  2. If you want a heart monitor do not waste your time with ones like Belly Beats.

*Sorry - I just noticed something - I think you are thinking about the Doppler. I am thinking about something people can get at Babies R Us! I think that one may be called Baby Beats or something - anyway, that is NOT a doppler. As long as it IS a doppler you can use it at the same times a Doctor's office can do it.

Order a 3Mhz Doppler - that is what is used in the doctor's office. But I have restrained myself from doing that because my son's heartbeat (even now at 23 weeks) can be very hard to find and I would worry unnecessarily. Furthermore, I was on a fetal monitor and their heartbeat can do very many weird things that are actually perfectly normal like accelerate and decelerate quickly for different reasons.

  3. I got one off line I'm 12 weeks and I can hear my babies heart beat just look for it about 3in below your belly button move the monitor in a circle till you hear the sound of a running horse if u can't find it take the monitor to your next doctors appointment and they will help u congrats I worry to it's normal!

  4. do not psych yourself out about heartbeat monitors that is the silliest thing i have ever heard!! The doctor will let you hear the heartbeats at your check-ups and tell you if everything is ok! Sooo i'd send it back adn let the doctor do this kind of work you dont want to hurt the baby by poking stuff in at him/her all the time.
