Question:

Experience with two middle names?

I recently got married and want to change my name, taking my birth last name as a second middle name and my husband's name as my new last name. Has anyone done this? I'm worried about what middle initial I would enter on tax forms and other employment forms.

  1. This is quite common. My sister in law whom has married my brother has chosen to keep her last name and take on my brothers surname. so it is hyphenated as in hartley-williams. Your middle Initial would be your actual middle name and your surname would be your hyphenated surname.

  2. oh cut the ****, just take your husbands as your last name and stop talking. dont worry about whats inbetween

  3. my mother did that many, many years ago.  her signature included her two middle initials.  example:  mary jane doe married michael edwards, mary wanted to keep her last name, so she changed her name to  "mary jd edwards" and that would be her signature.  once your name is changed via the social security administration - all of your tax documents and employment forms and what not will be accepted with the name that is printed on your social security card.

    congratulations!!!
