Question:

Experienced hallucinogenic/peyote users?

A close friend of mine is considering using peyote.

But I am unsure whether she should or not, considering she has anxiety and is possibly bi-polar. But I've heard if used properly, can be a very pleasant/psychologically beneficial and fulfilling experience.

I'd love some input if there should be any special precautions pertaining to this practice?

Any helpful information is appreciated.

Please do not simply say "don't do it" without expressing logical and intelligent reasoning as well.

Doing otherwise would just waste both of our lives.

  1. This kind of plants have been used for many centuries by shamans that did know what they where doing. The use of peyote has never traditionally been underestimated by the people using it.

I say you have to be very strong , both emotionally and mentally to be able get anything usefull from those "drugs". Someone that is not "grounded", that does not feal in peace and strong emotionally should not mess around too much with peyote.

Hallucinogenic drugs have been proved to lead to serious mental illness. Not everyone will become schizophrenic after taking mushroom, LSD or peyote of course, but some do. And most of the time, it is people that already had propensity for those illnesses, or those who do too much at one time.

I myself did LSD (not the fake c**p, the real deal) a few times, and I agree there is something inspirational from the trip you get. But I feel its like walking along the edge of a very deep ravine. But that's just me.

  2. Peyote, according to shamans I have talked to, brings out all your hidden demons, your weaknesses and fears. You see what you are, you see the world through a filter that is made of yourself.

Part of the "using properly" is making sure that everyone is ready for the ceremony, everyone is comfortable in their own skin, and solidly grounded in their own beliefs. If you are not well-balanced and psychologically strong when you take it, it can apparently be a horrifying experience.

It isn't something I would recommend to someone who is anxious and possibly bi-polar.

  3. Where do live, I live in Ohio... never seen it before. Aren't shrooms stronger?

Your friend probably shouldn't try it, can she handle drugs?
