  1. my son started preschool when he was 4.  he's 5 now and going into kindergarten next week.  he did great with just one year of preschool!!

  2. 4 is the best time to start them, that way you have time with your child before they begin their 14 year journey down that road of education...longer if they go to College or University...My Kids all started at 4 and all are A-1 Students...2 of them are in Honors Classes in High-School and my 8th grader is in AP..that 1 year of Head-Start gave them ALOT of confidence in all areas.

As far as Registering them for Pre-School or Head-Start...depending on the Desirability and Location of the School some will actually Pre-Register a Child BEFORE Birth...LOL...CRAZY..I Registered mine the Year before they were to start.

  3. I think it depends on the child. My oldest son started just before he turned four and that was perfect for him. My younger son is way more outgoing and independent - probably as a result of being the middle child - and I think he'll be totally ready at age 3.

I think signing up for preschools in advance depends on where you live and what school you're trying to get them into. I had to wait in line for a couple of hours to get my kids enrolled in our school down here in South Texas, but I used to live in New York City and it's much more competitive there (and parents are a bit more obsessive about it too).

  4. I was a pre k teacher for many years. My class started at 2.5 years old but that was mostly for socialization. When they really start to get the most out of is is 3.5-4 years old.

  5. I think generally 3 is the best age.  When to sign up depends on the preschool.

  6. my daughter who is 3, actually just  had her first day of preschool today!  i stayed with her for a couple hours and it seems to be going great.  i think 3 is the best age.

yes, for some schools you do have to sign up in advance, alot of ppl think its really important on what preschool you choose.
