Can anyone help me design an experiment that allows me to show that an organism's genetic information resides on DNA (or RNA) and not on the proteins produced?

Thanks! :)

  1. You can modify Avery's experiment. Take a bacterial strain containing plasmid such as pGLO. Lyse it with SDS, split into four samples and treat one with DNAse, one with RNAse, one with protease and leave the last as a control. Use all samples to try and transform a bacterial host strain and see which ones results in cells containing green fluorescent protein.

  2. the only one i know that can prove that is the Hershey and Chase experiment. It is very complex though. Search on wikipedia.
