Experts believe Magic Johnson is perfect fit for Los Angeles Dodgers – MLB News
Many in the Major League Baseball are praising the fact as Magic Johnson is the right man to handle the affairs of Los Angeles Dodgers. Johnson, who recently took control of the Dodgers franchise, will be running the affairs of the club with partner Stan Kasten.
Both are established and experience businessmen and know how to build the team again which virtually needs a fresh start. A local reporter, who had interviewed Johnson, recently published his views when former National Basketball Association star explained about his chances to purchase the South Los Angeles Baseball franchise.
“The Dodgers are my next big thing. This is not just millions of my money, this is dear to my heart.” Johnson said, “This is bringing back the brand for the people of Los Angeles."
Later after winning the majority stakes of the club, Johnson once again said, "When I first got to town [in 1979], the Dodgers were on Page 1 of the Los Angeles Times and the Lakers were on Page 3, I've seen how the Dodgers can be as big as the Lakers, and I want that to happen again."
Both comments reflect as how desperate Johnson was to purchase the Dodgers. Though he is running several others businesses as well, but being a part of a sports franchise is all together a different experience. Some experts believe that Johnson, a sports personality himself, can bring the right kind of stability in the team for a long period of time from next season onwards.
During his time at the Los Angeles Lakers, he has also learned many things on managerial level and on players’ handling affairs. On the other hand, now his past experience along with start studded calibre will give the Dodgers a natural momentum towards more excellence.
This is also a very healthy sign for the Dodgers that have been struggling for the last two years. The Dodgers’ franchise was in deep trouble when they filed for bankruptcy. In the meanwhile, now Johnson’s presence along with the wining group will understand the level of responsibility Dodgers need at the moment.
