Experts believe Melky Cabrera earned his All-Star MVP honour – MLB News
San Francisco Giants’ left-fielder Melky Cabrera has won this year’s All Star Most Valuable Player Award as he performed exceptionally well and earned a great victory for National League who ousted the American League 8-0.
The star studded performance of Cabrera was certainly witnessed by many who at the same time appreciated his extraordinary performance and described him as a real MVP.
Cabrera commented on his performance which proved to be one of the winning factors for the National League, "The fans treated me very well here, I didn't come to win an MVP. That's just a surprise. It's a great gift the Lord gave me. The same opportunity
that Kansas City gave me [in 2011] is the same opportunity that San Francisco is giving me every day, to showcase my talent."
Kansas City was a special place for Cabrera as he has played here in 2011 representing the Royals.
His all round performance certainly proved him MVP. He scored a RBI double in the first inning and in the fourth inning he smashed a two run homer while in the field as he also remained exceptional and covered most of the ground with extraordinary athleticism.
Later in the game, the Giants’ organisation as well as Cabrera himself was quite satisfied with his performance.
Giants are the fourth franchise in Major League Baseball where Cabrera has played. When couple of reporters asked him about the level of enthusiasm regarding different franchise he has played for, Cabrera stated that he was happy and that he has had a good
time even though he was traded by other teams.
Experts also believe that Cabrera has showed his brilliant performance in the All-Star Game, it will benefit him a lot in future seasons. The Giants are hopeful that Cabrera can carry his positive momentum forward and help the team secure a post season spot.
Currently he has finished his first half of the season with tremendous stats. Before mid season break, he was playing with hitting average of .353 along with homers, 44 RBIs and .391 OBP. It will be interesting to see what impact Cabrera will have for the
Giants in the second half of the regular season.
