Question:

Experts needed: I downloaded Threatfire as added to my main protector, Nortorn Internet Security?

My question:

Does my main security Norton Internet Security compatible with Threatfire?

Would my hardware or laptop slow down?

and

I'm hearing about Spyware Doctor is better than Threatfire?

Is Threatfire any good at all? I don't want to uninstall and remove it again, then Install Spyware doctor again because my laptop is brand new. I don't wanna keep adding files then later on removing them because they aren't any good.

Help would be nice to all the Experts that are online now.

Thank you, Ashley S.

  1. Threatfire is fine and will run alongside any antivirus program.

This program works by continuously analyzing the behavior of processes and programs on your system and immediately alerts you if it detects any suspicious actions - you can then decide whether to allow or block the activity.

Whenever it detects any unusual process or activity, it will display an alert with further information on the threat. If it is a known threat, then it will automatically quarantine the malware and no further action is required on your part.

If the threat is unknown, or new, then ThreatFire will display an alert and prompt you to Allow or Quarantine the process. All alerts provide detailed information to help you make an informed decision.

It uses very little resources and will not slow down your machine at all.

  2. Threatfire's name has a deterrent effect and my experience with Norton Internet Security has worked out in my favor, continually blocking rogue files from entering my Windows.

A "Firewall" even the one built-into Windows, blocks attacks on operating system and is the first line-of-defense against intruders. The firewall in Windows is excellent.

Third-parties like Symantec have carried on the PC tradition of system maintenance with their Norton Systemworks. Norton Anti-Virus can function within this space as a component. You've probably heard about Norton Disk Doctor.

Norton Disk Doctor was a part of Norton Utilities, and is just one of several programs available for fine-tuning your hard drive (Deframentation in Speed Disk). This program is essential and keeps the PC running up-to-speed.

All of these programs really shouldn't be done without, they're essential components of a smooth-running machine

They help your computer run up-to-speed

You need protection from spyware and malware, third-parties utilities offer this protection but so does Microsoft, in the form of its' Window's Defender. Window's Defender is available from Microsoft's website as a free download for Windows XP and is built-in to Windows Vista.

It'll block spyware, popups and slow performance

Also setting up a System Restore Point is an essential part of any PC-maintenance routine.

Also backup any important data before performing necessary disk maintenance.

Good luck and thanks for the question,
