Experts predict glory for Pakistan’s pace trio in Trent Bridge Test
After the historic victory against Australia at Leeds, Pakistan cricket team is all set to face the England cricket team. It was the pace trio of Pakistan, featuring Mohammad Aamer, Umar Gul and Mohammad Asif, that helped the side to a historic triumph, breaking 15 years Test-victory drought against Australia.
The cricket pundits have lauded the efforts of the trio that collectively took 30 wickets in the two-match test series, and have predicted the pacers putting England on their back foot. The English batsman Paul Collingwood, however, has said that the pace attack of Pakistan is being overrated.
The young captain of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Salman Butt is happy with the pace trio and said that he is the luckiest skipper to have such an armoury. Butt claimed that the opening duo featuring sensational teenager Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif is the best new-ball pair of the world. The pair shared 22 wickets in the two test matches against Australia. The two pacers were remarkable against the Australian batting line at Headingley as the side bundled Australia out for a 26-year low of 88 in their first innings.
While Aamer and Asif play havoc with the new ball, Umar Gul is the most dangerous bowler with the old ball. The incumbent skipper Salman Butt praising Umar Gul’s reverse swing said that among the bowlers he has faced in the recent times, Gul bowls the best reverse swing. Butt said that the trio of pacers is the trump card of Pakistan and he is well aware of how and where to use the card.
Former Test pacer of Pakistan, Sarfaraz Nawaz has also lauded the performance of the pacers against Australia in the two-match Test series. Sarfaraz said that the pacers of Pakistan are disastrous right now. Sarfaraz attributed the historic victory against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at Leeds to the Pakistani bowlers. The former pacer said that alone a bowler can do nothing as the batsman starts playing defensively against him and pulls runs from the other end. He said to put a pressure on an opponent’s batting, the side needs at least two in-form bowlers but Pakistan in this regard is blessed as it has got a devastating trio rather than a duo.
Sarfaraz, however, has advised the Pakistan players not to take England as easy opposition. He said that Australia played Pakistan without many of its first choice bowlers and batsmen but this would not be the case with England as their bowlers as well as batsmen are in form. Sarfaraz further added that the home ground and crowd would give the advantage to England.
Australian Captain Ricky Ponting also lauded the Pakistani pacers. Ponting said that the Australian batting line was not up to the mark during the test series, however, he said that the credit must be given to the pace attack of Pakistan for bowling extraordinarily well. Ponting also praised leg-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314 rating his performance as “world class”.
Paul Collingwood has said that the experts are overrating Pakistan’s bowling. The English batsman said that the pacers of Pakistan are undoubtedly talented and have a lot of potential but to rate them as the world’s number one pace attack would probably be over the mark. He said that it was the favourable bowling conditions that helped them performed well otherwise the Australian bowling attack is still a very strong attack in the world.
Pakistan’s pace attack has made a huge impression over the past few weeks shaking the world’s strongest batting line-up of Australia. They would definitely be a major threat for England when Pakistan will take on hosts at Trent Bridge on 29th July. Both Aamer and Asif enjoy bowling under overcast conditions, however, the duo has also got the ability to extract reverse swing which makes the visiting pace attack devastating against the hosts.
