Expired Antidepressant Pills?

Well I have been suffering from depression and I don't think my parents want to put me on meds. I keep on hurting and I think of suicide often and I get serious about it more and more. I saw meds in the cabin my sister had, but never took them, They are called Apo-Sertraline 50MG. They are yellow and white on the capsule. They where prescribed to my sister Sep 18 2006 it says, so I was wondering, if I took them, would anything happen to me? It has been like 2 years for them, and they were in room temperature in the cabinet. I might have some more recent ones maybe from Dec of that year, but should I take one from Sep if I don't have recent ones?

I'm dying here and I'm so fed up with everything. I just don't wanna die from taking a 2 year old med though. Thanks :)

  1. It's not a good idea to take expired medication.  They may have deteriorated in strength or have become altered in their chemical makeup.  You don't know what you'll be giving your system.

It's also not a good idea to fool around with someone else's medication.  The med might work for that person, but not work for your body.

I recommend talking to your parents.  Be assertive about your depressive feelings.  All parents want the best for their kids.  I reckon they'll do whatever they can to see you well.

Hang in there.  And talk to your folks.
