Expired Little Debbie snack cakes?

I ate a Little Debbie Fudge Round cake that was sitting in a box in my desk drawer...

After noticing how stale it tasted I looked on the box and saw that it said "Freshest by Jul 24 2007"

Am I going to die?

It was kind of stale but tasted okay... not green or anything...

I'm sure they last for MANY years beyond the date on the box.  Note, that it said "freshest by", and wasn't a true expiration date......

You are fine!  The expiration date is about quality of taste and texture and not about spoilage.

The freshness date is for just that, just for freshness, it wont kill you and it shouldn't make you sick. now  you know why the date is there, it's there to tell you how long they will keep their freshness, so enjoy if you like them that way.
