Expiry date for donor card?

one of my colleagues has just pulled his donor card from his wallet. its dated 1985.

do you have to update these cards of would that be valid if anything happened to him and they found it on his person

Are you in the UK? I have a donor card but I believe that once you die it's your next of kin that makes the final decision (I think they're trying to change that) so I have made my wishes explicit to my mum, make sure your colleage does as well!

There is no expiration date on these cards, they are issued for a lifetime.  If this person has changed his/her mind then they should destroy the card.
