  2. 1st law of thermodynamics is a conservation of energy law, which states that there is a finite amount of energy in the universe and energy cannot be created nor destroyed. It applies to everything in the universe. For example energy not created by plants during photosynthesis, instead energy of the sun is transfered and stored as energy of chemical bonds present in sugar. Humans eat plants/sugars and break chemical bonds to obtain energy for the needs of our organism. Eventually usable energy will be released as heat. As we see, all living organisms live by transferring energy but never energy is created or destroyed.
