Question:

Explain an unknown dizziness when standing?

Okay, first of all, I'm 13 yrs old. This has also only been happening very recently, within the past month.

Lately, sometimes when I stand up from any sort of position (sitting, squatting, laying down, etc), I get this sort of sensation.. I feel dizzy, lightheaded, my ears ring, I lose balance, and my vision goes so that everything is white except for what's directly in my line of vision (uhh.. sort of like my 360 peripheral vision fails completely, I guess). This only lasts for, oh, two to five seconds, but the "worse" ones, when I feel more unbalanced, more dizzy, more lightheaded etc, last for anywhere between ten to twenty seconds. I get this often, very often, and right before it happens I always get this feeling, a sort of before-shock and I hang on to something before I fall over.

I've never experienced anything like this before. As far as I know, my diet hasn't changed, I haven't had a major growth spurt, weight change, anything like that. What's going on?

[i do realize that you guys aren't doctors and this is no replacement for an actual diagnosis]

  2. you sound like you might have an ear infection, do you feel plugged up, usually when you have one your equilibrium is all thrown off and you are off balance.look up symptoms of an ear infection.

  3. THis happens with me too... you have been sitting down and relaxed, when you get up, you are unrelaxing, and the blood is rushing back into your head... hope this expalins it... thanks

  4. When you stand up, the venous return to your heart is increased, drawing it out of your system, and may cause a person to feel dizzy. I would recommend getting up slowly and seeing a doctor in case there is an underlying problem.  You may have a low blood volume, which could be caused from various factors, such as not eating enough protein, or even edema.  Ask a doctor.

  5. when you get up from a sitting position quickly, the blood in your head gets, for a lack of a better word, "drained" out. its only temporary and is nothing to worry about.

  6. Please check your blood pressure. You can do it at most drug stores.

  7. i feel that too when i stand up. it's mosty lightheadedness but it really hurts. i think it's normal so don't worry too much about it. if it gets worse or anything then you should go to a doctor.

  8. It sounds like me when I'm not taking iron supplements. One of the things it could be (not definitely what it is, but the symptoms sound like mine) is that you're suffering from an iron deficiency, or anemia. Eat more red meat and leafy dark greens, and if you take a vitamin supplement be sure it has iron in it.

You should definitely still see your physician though, just to be sure that it's not something more serious like an inner ear problem or a neurological issue.

    Hope you feel better soon!

    :)

  10. Sounds like you have way too serious problem to be discussed here. Glab mom or dad and get down to the ER. LIKE NOW! There are a very ear/nose/throat problems ou there that aren't anything more than hayfever. But somehow I suspect yours ain't one of dem.

  11. that happens to me whenever i stand up and stretch. i think it's just your body's way of saying you got up too fast. it's pretty normal.

  12. is it like the feeling when you get once you stand up out of a hot bath?

    maybe its postural hypotension,

i cant really explain to you what it is,

because i just looked it up on the internet

but the sites below that i found

    explain it proparly

also, tell your parents if you havent

im your age, and i have had a few strange things happen to me,

but the best thing  to do is tell your parents!

  13. i know that an ear problem like a fluid imbalance can cause dizziness but doesnt really explain your lightheadedness...id see a doctor asap cause it could be a result of something a lot bigger so get it checked out

  14. it could be vertigo caused by dehydration, low blood pressure, or some sort of inner ear problem.
