  1. There are three main stages to cellular respiration:

    1. Glycolysis where glucose, a 6-Carbon sugar, is split into two 3 carbon sugars.  

    2.  The 3-Carbon sugars are then altered into 2-C and shuttled into the Krebs cycle by Acetyl-CoA.  In the Krebs Cycle the carbons are stripped off and the energy from the carbon bonds is stored in electron carriers NADH and FADH2.

    3.  The electron carriers then take their electrons to the Electron Transport Chain where the energy is used to phosphorylate ADP to make ATP through chemiosmosis.
