  2. Thats a good question , i always wondered the same, there might be people in the world who resemble you but not related to you

  3. Theoretically, it's unknown whether there are no two people with the exact same set of traits (except identical twins) though it's highly unlikely.

But the main reason the world is so diverse is because of sexual reproduction. In the process of meiosis (production of s*x cells) the selection of chromosomes for each resulting s*x cell is randomized, which is why usually there are no two s*x cells in anyone's body that carries the same 23 chromosomes.

Sexual production is further randomized by the selection of which s*x cells will join together to form a zygote from each parent.

Here is a pretty good animation of meiosis which explains what happens step-by-step.

  4. Really, it's all a matter of probability.  Human beings have 23 pairs of chromosomes.  The number of possible variations of these 23 chromosomes is found by 2^23, which is 200000000000000000000000.  That means there are 200000000000000000000000 different combinations for your genes. Since there aren't even close that that many people in the world, there is plenty of variation.

  5. Sexual reproduction generates diversity. No two individuals are exactly alike.
