  1. Basically,  you have two pieces wire which are close to each other(such as 2 coils)  One of the coils is hooked to a power source.  As the current flows through the first coil a magnetic field is produced around the coil.  The magnetic field causes the electrons in the second coil to start to move creating an "induced current"
