  1. A perfect example of how it maintained is the physical standards testing in the military.  A females requirements for their respective age group are lower than what is expected of the men.  Like the male 2 mile run time is a several minutes faster than the female 2 mile run time.  Women are expected to do (on average) 15 push ups, where the men are expected to perform somewhere around 45 in the same time period.

Talking about being countered- women being given the right to vote, own property and be admitted to colleges in the early 1900s.

In many countries (in the past) female royalty was not allowed to rule.  The heir to the throne was the first born male, not the female.  Some kings even killed their wives when they bore them female children instead of a male to pass on the throne.

  2. thats not female inferioty. its called GENETICS. women are scientifically proven to have worse upper body strength and be slower. thats the way they do it in school for fitness tests, and thats why they separate sexes in the olympics.  i agree with the second part, though.

  3. Women are physically weaker than men, and are also less likely to be assertive and to want to achieve leadership roles.  This is how males generally come to dominate. Also, women's roles have necessarily been limited by the need to nurture and raise children, which is vitally important if the human race is not to die out. Societies over time have varied enormously in how they have treated women, what tasks have been expected of women, etc, but in general men have occupied most leadership roles.  And such continues to be the case.

Many scholars over the years have addressed the question of women's perceived inferiority.  The Greek author Aristotle thought that women, like slaves, were naturally inferior and born to serve rather than to rule. In the Bible, Paul said that women should obey their husbands, but he also said "husbands, love your wives as your own bodies", and taught consideration for women in a way that was unusual in the anceint world, and probably helped to account for the enthusiasm with which women embraced Christianity.

Medieval authors argued a good deal over how inferior women were, some taking a more benign view of women than others.  More recent philosophers were often very disparaging.  Jean-Jacques Rousseau thought that women were naturally inferior, as did Niectze.

Women's legal rights have varied considerably over time, but only in the 20th century has the concept of 'equal rights' for women really taken hold (most men did not have 'equal rights' until comparatively recently either).

Being considered inferior has not stopped women from making an important contribution to society, nor has it stopped individual women from shining in particular spheres.

Modern attempts to insist that women and men are exactly the same and that there are no differnces between them are probably doomed to failure.
