  3. It is pressurized to about 3000 psi. and cooled down ,it will condense except methane. Methane does not like to compres,it is like trying to compres water.

  4. It is basically a two step process.

    First you do work on the gas by compressing it.  This will reduce the volume, but heat the gas.

    Second, you cool the heated gas below the temperature at which the gas will condense at the high pressure that is left after the cooling.

    Third, the temperature can be slowly raised to distill off specific gases if necessary.
