  1. I don't know if anyone want to take this further but I read somewhere that stir fries became popular in parts of China during a time when little firewood was available. So food was chopped up and preprepared in advance of cooking to shorten cooking times.

    Wiki reference the need of a good chef to bring out the "chi" in food.
