  1. Well a frogs back legs have a lot of potential energy. Like a coiled spring really. Its legs are designed to use as little energy as possible. Like pushing yourself away from a wall while in a swimming pool, that takes less energy and is more efficient then simply swimming  


  2. I guess, posterior appendages are more muscular and longer and they help the frog to hop.
