This is the variation :

A farmer plants a row of pea seeds in his garden. Some of the pea plants that grow from the seeds are twice as large as the other pea plants in the row. What is the advantage? To better survive and reproduce?

You'd assume that if they are twice as large, they have twice as much surface area on leaves for photosynthesis to be carried out.  More photosynthesis means more sugar made, and more pea seeds produced when the pea plant is fertilized, therefore allowing the plant to survive and reproduce more effectively than the shorter plants.
