  1. multiply by 12 both sides as it is the common denom'

    1/4 * 12 (x - 5/3) = 2/3 *12 (x+5)

    3(x-5/3) = 8(x+5)

    3x -5 = 8x +40

    -45 = 5x

    -45/5 = -9=x

    7/3 (x+2) = 3/4 (x+3)

    multiply by 12 both sides as it is the common denom'

    7/3*12 (x+2) = 3/4*12 (x+3)

    28(x+2)= 9( x+3)

    28x +56 = 9x +27

    19x = 27-56

    19x = - 29

    x = -29/19 = -1 10/19

  2. either divide the constants to one side, multiply through, combine the variables on one side, and solve for x.

    or

    multiply through, combine the variables on one side, and solve for x.

    For example:

    3(x + 1) = 2(x + 1), multiply through

    3x + 3 = 2x + 2, combine variables

    3x - 2x = 2 - 3, solve for x

    x = -1

  3. are these both in the same question or seperate questions?

    for the first one

    crossmultiply....3(x-5/3)=8(x+5)

    3x-5=8x+40

    5x=-45

    x= -9.

    for the second one u cant find x unless u have a value for x or another equation with x and y. maybe u meant find y? using the value of x from part 1

    u get ...7/3(y+2)=3/4(-9+3)

    and u can solve further
