I think of life after infancy as kindof a regression. When you are an infant you need complete care. During childhood you gain more independence (so your self-concept and self-esteem go up). Into adulthood you are completely independant (better self-concept). And then your self concept goes down from there, I would think. As a senior citizen you are constantly depending on someone to take care of your needs. That would lower anyone&#039;s self esteem and self concept.
