  1. if you don't know about a place you have been to, you can't know where it is and how to get there.

    if you dont't know about something, you don't know how to get to it.

    basically, if you dont try you won't ever get it.


  2. If you don't learn from your past mistakes/experiences, you'll keep making the same mistakes/ never be able to learn enough to know enough about yourself to develop future goals.

    More literally, if your lost in the woods and have no idea where you are, you have no idea where whatever direction you take will lead you.

  3. It means your history (experience, background , culture etc) plays a part in how you develop and what road you choose to take for your future
