  1. errr attack, defence and mind?

    donno

  2. There are actually 5: Weapons, Punching, Kicking, Grappling/Throwing, and Groundfighting. Every martial art has these aspects, even if they're only for recovering from them. Like weapon reversals, getting off the ground, and escaping holds.

  3. KARATE IS COOL

    KARATE IS BEST

    KARATE WILL KICK ANYONES A**

  4. Philosophy

    Physicality

    Disipline

Philosophy:  Each martial art has it's own system of belief.

For example Aikido believes in waiting for the oppenent to move first then to counter.  Judo believes in using your opponents power against him.

Physicality:  Martial arts is used to get you in shape.  Forms or "katas" were invented for this reason.  The art of tai chi put emphasis on doing forms for health reasons.  This is a big aspect of martial arts.

Disipline:  You must understand that Martial arts IS A LIFESTYLE AND NOT A HOBBY.  It was meant to teach you many things.  Like normal school, you learn many things like math and science etc. but you must apply them to be successful.  Martial arts were meant to steer a person in the path of honor and respect.

Many people say that a certain martial arts sucks because you cannot beat anybody up with it.  This is because this is not the only purpose of martial arts.  Any martial art that teaches all three of these aspects is a good martial art.

  5. mind, body, and spirit

just my take , not an 'expert' answer...

body- the easiest part; the physical training. learning the stances , techniques, katas, mechanics of a punch, using your lower body, etc. Repetition.

spirit-you either have it in your heart or you don't-indomitable spirit

mind-the toughest aspect of martial arts; overcoming yourself

Also, generally speaking. Martial arts is about self-discipline and self-control. Having humility, because you don't need to do otherwise. Being courteous; respecting yourself and others. Perservering. Fall 8 times to rise 9. Confidence in yourself, nobody can take that away. Ever.

The punching and kicking are just added bonuses :) You'd be amazed at how little they are needed on the street when you have the confidence/awareness that you gain from being a martial artist; just the way you carry yourself prevents altercations.

And lol, even a 'bad' day on the mat beats not getting out there!!

    Just my personal experience.

  6. The 3 I know of are Mental, Physical, and Spiritual. If you don't train and have a basic undertsanding it is very hard to understand each one and how they tie together, and I'm short on time right now. I'll ty to get back to it later.

  7. mind

    body

    spirit

  8. Stand up, the clinch, and the ground game. That's all you need to know.
