Explain the correspondence between latitudinal & altitudinal effects on biome development.?

essentially, as you go higher in altitude (vertically) the temperature lowers...the same thing happens with increases in latitude (closer to north and south poles). Temperature effects tons of things like humidity (lower in colder regions) and therefore restricts particular types of plants...essentially if you were on the equator...and found a mountian...it would have a similar climate as the northern US states....because both changes in direction have the same effect on climate
