  1. The sea-level has been rising at an accelerated rate over the past century.  This is from a combination of ocean expansion (from warmer water) and melting glacier ice.

Here's some good sites that discuss this subject in detail:

  2. Stop it!! Global warming is simply a nice little theory. Nothing more....

  3. As global warming (natural as man made is a myth) causes the earth to warm, most of the sea level rise will be from the expansion of water volume. As water heats it expands. This is the majority of the predicted water level rise. As for glaciers melting, they could add a minute bit of sea level rise, but most is from the expansion of water. Of course you never hear this on tv because watching water expand is not as dramatic as seeing glaciers falling into the ocean.

Another point, the glaciers have been melting at a fairly steady pace for the last 10,000 years or so. we have not contributed to the melting. It is a natural occurance. Look at this site, and I think you will agree that a warmer climate is much more beneficial than the cool climate the earth is still recovering from.

  4. Right now, average temperature rising seems to have the effect of increasing evaporation in the southern oceans, and with that we see increased snow fall going onto Antarctica.

That snowfall is partly causing more glacier ice to fall into the oceans, partly building up the continent's ice burden. But the snow is originating from the ocean. It is not yet having a great impact on ocean levels.

When the  temperature rises further, we should expect to see first the precipitation on the coast falling mostly as rain. After we start to see that, we should expect to see a transfer of water back to the oceans for many hundreds of years.

  5. Gobal warming is a big issue that concerns every one like you.

As we all know that the earth have ice caps on the north and south poles and the continent antartic is mainly made-up of ice. Now if those ice melts due to the rise of temperature in the atmosphere surely the sea levels go up and the worst thigh that could happen is that the whole earth will lie underwater together with the mythical city of atlantis.

  6. why quite obviously it will go WAY WAY down...

eventually the crust will warm enough to become brittle and fracture.. the ensuing rush of volcanic action will vaporize VAST quantities of ocean water cause intense cloud cover of minerals and water vapor resulting in global cooling....

hey if the GW fanatics can make stuff up cause it sounds good so can I!

  7. Ice bergs and glaciers that are floating in the ocean will not cause the sea level to rise if they melt.  However, the ice that is on top of land like Antarctica and Greenland, will cause the sea level to rise if it melts.  Also, when water is warming, the molecules spread apart.  This is called thermal expansion and is predicted that it will cause sea level increase.
