  1. Poor people (in the USA, at least), lower-level employees, the unemployed, and those on pensions or public assistance,  can't afford regular health care.  They will wait until matters become urgent, generally ignoring preventative care or general "maintenance"-type things, and then go to a hospital emergency room.

    Better-off workers, and small business people, together comprising the so-called "middle class," may have some health coverage  but the problem of missing work time complicates using it.

    Usually, only the very best-situated workers, military, specialists, or executives and the very wealthy, will take full advantage of preventative care, "maintenance"-type care, and have full, unfettered access to care in a crisis.

    While I doubt that your instructor will appreciate this last, these facts indicate that a national health system is the only way to go.
