  1. most subsidies go to large corporate farms, not to the family farms they're designed to protect

    the products that are heavily subsidized are unhealthy, such as corn, soybeans, and sugar, instead of healthy foods such as carrots or green beans.  this encourages the poor, who don't have the luxury of buying fresh produce, to buy products laden with high fructose corn syrup.

    our subsidies are harmful to farmers in developing countries.  if those farmers can't sell their produce, they might have to cut their meals down to one a day.  that's not likely to happen over here.
