Explain the importance of entrepreneurship?

With entrepreneurship, eople become self-supporting & bring new jobs to other people as well, an important part of our economy.  They also bring new ideas and new ways of doing things, such as alternative fuels, and inventions that we all enjoy, for entertainment, for medical use, and hopefully for more efficiency.  Without entrepreneurship, the original government idea of the Internet would only be used by military and other branches of the government and not by the rest of us, and we would not at this moment or ever, be participating in Yahoo Answers.  

Of course entrpreneurship can be yet another way to make the rich folks richer, but our economy needs it, and it always offers a hope for the poor & middle class of moving up in the world.  Absolutely, we need entrepreneurship for all of these reasons, in spite of any drawbacks.

Most of all, though, some people are drawn to entrepreneurship for enjoyment, just as surely as people are drawn to video games.  It may be the joy in making an invention work, or it may be some ridiculous obsessive/compulsive behaviour.  Success or failure may seem almost irrelevant.  Success is a pleasant byproduct, while failure is an opportunity to try again with the added knowledge of what went wrong the first time.  

Why does a mountain climber climb the mountain? Because it's there.  Ditto for the entrepreneur.
