  1. There are several color (sorry, American) models in use today. The two most common are RGB and CMYK.

    RGB is the model we use for light sources and reflected light. The reason it is so useful is based on how our eyes perceive color. The cones in our eyes can only see red green and blue. We mix all the other colors based on various levels of those three colors. We call them the primary colors of light and it is an additive process. We have black until we "add" color.

    CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) is the model used for printing. It's a subtractive process, in other words, we have white (paper) until we add color.
