  1. Simple Sign On is a system that allows you to create something of a super user for all the applications on your computer.  Every time you open an application and it requires a user name and password, the single sign on app will ask you if you'd like to register your user name and password with it so that the next time you open that specific app, the single sign on app will enter your user info for you.  It relates the specific application with your specific data so that you don't need to remember many passwords.  This also helps protect other users from using your account in an application while signed into their own account on the OS.
