Oh, I think this is just another version of the soap radio jokes. I've heard it as "Two something-s sitting in a tub, one says, "Pass the soap!", the other says, "What do I look like, a radio?"

The idea of soap-radio jokes is that they actually aren't supposed to make any sense. But they're made for telling in person so 2 or more people who hear the code words "soap" and "radio" laugh on purpose as if they got it. While the real funny part is watching the reaction of the people who have no idea. They either pretend they got it or look very embarrassed that they didn't.
