With the fast rate of cutting down the trees, it lead to many factors. 1st is the carbon dioxide in the earth will increase due to lesser plants. This will lead to greenhouse effect and cause global warming. 2ndly, with the cutting down of trees, soil will lost the firmness and erosion will occurs. The mission of NACD is:

"To serve conservation districts by providing national leadership and a unified voice for natural resource conservation."

Among the goals of the organization are to:

        * Represent districts as their national voice on conservation issues.

        * Provide useful information to conservation districts and their state associations.

        * Build partnerships with federal and state agencies and other organizations in order to carry out district priorities and programs.

        * Analyze programs and policy issues that have an impact on local districts.

        * Offer needed and cost-effective services to districts.

  4. I work for a state agency whose role is to protect air and water quality.  One of the things we spend the most money on is eduation for the public.  Scientists and tree huggers may have wonderful ideas about how to save the planet, but none of it matters unless you have the power of the general public behind you.  Ten people can make a small difference in natural conservation, but 100,000 can make a greater impact.  Environmental eduation is the key to saving our natural resources.
