  1. Actually, it would take several books to explain all there is to know about the significance of barometric pressure in forecasting.

    I have been studying weather and been a practicing forecaster for nearly 40 years and I am still learning. I started as a map plotter and analyst in 1971.

    To put it simply, weather forecasting often starts with the current analysis of pressure patterns and changes. A lot of other information goes into the forecast but a good forecaster will often start with the latest surface analysis. (All forecasters will do things a little differently. Each has their own methodology.)

    To put it mildly, I don't think you could adequately answer this question in this forum.


  2. When there is high pressure as measured by a barometer, good weather is expected - sunny ; low humidity ; no storms.

    Low pressure tends to predict precipitation.
