Well first I tell u what The Oxford Dictionary Says about it.

It defines troll as"(in Scandinavian stories) a creature that looks like an ugly person."

So this was Oxford's definition but in my opinion TROLL is just a human imagination Everything which is frightening to us is a troll for us.So one can say that if someone is frightened from a lizard that is troll for him/her. It is not necessary that TROLL should be huge Ugly looking person. It depends upon whether we want to have a troll or not as our pet of imagination.
