  1. This is electrostatic force of attraction between two oppositely charged ions.Like in Na+ & Cl-, Ca++ & Cl- etc.

  2. A chemical bond between two atoms where one or more electrons are passed from one atom to another. When they give up electrons, each of the atoms should have a filled shell. A good example of an ionic bond is the sodium chloride bond. You may also hear the term electrovalent bond.

  3. double O 7

  4. Ions transfer electrons in order to fill their outer shell.

  5. Ionic vs covalent bonds. Ionic bonds are those in which the electron pair is captured mostly by one of the items involved due to their high electronegativity, for example Na+ Cl-. Covalent bonds are bonds in which the electron pair are shared, for example O=C=O (CO2). Covalent bonds are mostly in organic compounds and ionic mostly in inorganic compounds. Covalent bonds in carbon come in different flavors: for carbon a sp3 bond forms 4 bonds (CH4), an sp2 forms 3 bonds ( H3C-C(=O)-CH3 acetone and sp bonds (H-C-triple bond-C-H as in acetylene).
